We presently meet in the White Oak Center, 1485 Hwy 34 East in Newnan, GA.  Our fully remodeled temporary "home" has a comfortable worship area as well as fully furnished childcare and educational space.

We have secured a beautiful piece of property on Shenandoah Blvd and hope to be in a new facility by the end of 2009.

History

Christ Presbyterian Church is a relatively young church.  Our story began when a family from Carriage Lane Presbyterian Church in Peachtree City, Georgia had a desire to plant a church in the Newnan/East Coweta County area. In October of 1996 this Group began to meet, pray and plan for the new church.  Bob and Chris Orner were called to be the organizing pastor in July of 1998.  We held our first public worship service in March of 1999.

Our Theological Identity

We are a Presbyterian church, but the most important aspect of who we are theologically concerns our belief that God's Word, the Bible, is without error in all that it teaches and that it, alone, is our infallible guide for faith and practice. As J.I. Packer has stated, "God has spoken in the Bible and He has not stuttered." We gladly celebrate the great truths of the Protestant Reformation:

1) God's absolute sovereignty over all His creation and in salvation.

2) Salvation from grace alone through faith, not by works.

3) A world and life view that has God at the center, and man on earth to represent God's redemption to the world.

Our Denomination

The Presbyterian Church in America is headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia.  It was founded in 1973 by a group of godly men who had a vision for a denomination that would provide the benefits and safeguards of a "framework" for like-minded and like-hearted churches.  Yet also one that would respect the individuality and uniqueness of each local church within the denominational family.  The PCA has more than 1450 churches throughout the United States and Canada.  It is a fast growing denomination with a vital commitment to church planting and world evangelism.

Our Church Government

The form of government, or leadership, which we believe to be the most Biblical is called Presbyterian."  This simply means that we are lead by "presbyters," most commonly known as elders, who are elected by the congregation as representatives to oversee the spiritual needs and ministries of the flock.  We also have a second group of servant leaders called "deacons."  Like the elder, they are elected by the congregation.  Their main responsibilities are to take care of the physical needs of the body including the ministries of mercy, the care and maintenance of properties, and financial matters.

Our Mission

Christ Presbyterian Church exists to glorify God by being a home for God's people where they mature in the Gospel of Grace and in turn transform the lives of those who live, work and play around us. We will impact them spiritually, socially and culturally through the power of the Gospel.

Our Priorities:

Our philosophy of ministry can be summarized in three words that represent the foundational truths found in the Bible: Know, Grow, and Show.  These truths are commonly called the "Great Commandments" and the "Great Commission" and are found in Matthew 22:34-40 and Matthew 28:16-20. Together they summarize the goal of every Christian and therefore Christ Presbyterian Church.

 * Know (Matthew 22:37)

Jesus summarized the entire Bible in two short commands.  The first was, "Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all you soul and with all your mind."  Of all the priorities we have in life, the first and highest priority must be loving God in light of "gospel of Grace."  You cannot love God, unless you know God. At Christ Presbyterian Church we want to help you KNOW God so you can better love God.   We will help you know God through faithful study of His Word, and through dynamic, heartfelt worship.  We want to worship God openly and unashamedly, because God alone is worthy of all our affection.

 * Grow (Matthew 22:38)

We are a community of the redeemed called to relation Jesus went on to give the second half of the summary when He said, "love your neighbor as your love yourself."  Loving others as much as we love ourselves is extremely difficult and would be impossible if Christ had not first loved us.  Our love identifies us as true followers of Jesus Christ and demonstrates that we are growing in His knowledge and grace.  Thus at Christ Presbyterian Church we are committed to help you build long and lasting relationships.  Although relationships are hard, and require work, openness, honesty, and vulnerability, they are foundational for growth in the body of Christ.  We are committed to being a caring and discipling church.

 * Show (Matthew 28:19-20)

The third aspect of our philosophy of ministry concerns our commitment to show others the way to Christ.  The last words Jesus spoke to His disciples before He went back to heaven were a parting charge.  In this charge every Christian has been commissioned to take the glorious gospel of God's saving grace to every nation.  We at Christ Presbyterian Church are excited about being part of the Great Commission at home and abroad.  Thus we will be committed to Showing others the gospel both in how we live and by what we say.  We understand this starts here in Coweta County and reaches out into our nation and to the most distant parts of the world.  To Show we must be a "sending and spending" church.  Therefore, we are a missional church.
